· To provide legal advice to the Government as follows:
o The Governor.
o Ministers, Ministries and Departments in relation to a wide range of Government activities.
o Public Service Commission
o Land Registry.
· To conduct or assist in the conduct of civil litigation by and against Government, including preparatory work and appearing as an advocate in civil proceedings before the various courts and tribunals in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
· To advise on Government Contracts and Commercial transactions and prepare their documentation.
· Other duties as may be directed by the Attorney General from time to time.
Qualified and eligible to practise in a Commonwealth Law Jurisdiction or the Republic of Ireland. Experience in Civil and Commercial litigations as well as commercial and contract negotiations and documentations in both Private Practice and Public Service would be an advantage. This is a senior post and an applicant of less than five years post qualification experience is not likely to be appointed. The division of responsibilities varies from time to time depending upon the volume, nature and complexity of the work being undertaken and the experience of the respective post-holders in the Chambers.
SALARY $49,800 - $53,100 per annum
For person recruited from outside the Turks and Islands a two or three year extendable contract is offered. Other benefits offered in addition to basic salary include Transportation and Telephone Allowance, Housing Allowance, end-of-contract gratuity of 15% of salary, return passage for family of up to two children under the age of 16 years, duty free on the shipment of personal effects imported within six months of appointment.
