Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Manager, position works closely with Warehouse, Purchasing & Payables to ensure efficient operations in the Inventory Department, follows accepted inventory protocols, monitoring and reporting on physical and system inventory movements and reconciling same. Promote a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. Maintain company standards, policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:
Maintains the accuracy of the physical inventory of the company
Communicates margin issues to buyers and follows up for timely response.
Reviews system for inventory movements, spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending related to inventory.
Insures that cycle counts are being conducted on a timely and regular basis.
Trains all staff for inventory purposes and is responsible for the preparation and conducting of semi-annual inventories.
Coordinates Inventory Control with the Receiving, Warehouse Floor and Purchasing to make sure low stock, out of stock, negative on hand and computer inventory is correct.
Coordinates writing of adjustment vouchers to vendors for damages and liaises with Supply Chain to obtain their approvals.
Reports shrink and research causes.
Controls markdowns & voids by monitoring damages and overstock.
Analyzes and determines reasons for negative inventory and margins.
Reviews inventory statistical reports for any abnormal or erroneous data.

Other Responsibilities:
Performs various tasks and projects as directed by Finance Manager and senior management.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in similar capacity
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, ACCA or CPA equivalent experience.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures with emphasis on inventory controls and movement
Proven leadership skills; ability to supervise and direct employees.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors, customers and purchasing department.
Honesty, accuracy and attention to detail.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
Must be PC literate; working knowledge of inventory programs a plus.

Work Environment:
For the most part the ambient temperature will be moderate but will need to perform inventory in refrigerated area and freezer from time to time.
There will be industrial vehicles (forklifts, etc) moving material throughout the warehouse.
